Getting back
The Lynx Coastliner 36 stops opposite The Victoria at Holkham and goes back to Wells. Check the Lynx timetable before you set off so you know when the next bus is due.

Start at the quay in Wells and walk north along the raised bank beside Beach Road to the lifeboat station and the beach car park, about a mile. From there the coast path turns west into the pinewoods behind the dunes.
The path stays under the pines most of the way to Holkham Gap, where a boardwalk leads out to Holkham beach. You can walk along the sand instead and cut back into the trees at the Gap. For the beach itself, including the dog rules, see BeachNous.
At the Gap, turn inland down Lady Anne's Drive to the main road at Holkham. There are cafes by the beach car park at Wells and near the beach end of Lady Anne's Drive, and The Victoria pub is on the main road, opposite the bus stop.
This walk is part of Wells to Burnham Deepdale on the Norfolk Coast Path.
