Who we are
PathNous is a guide to walking the Norfolk Coast Path and the Suffolk coast path, one stage at a time.
To contact us, write to us with the Report a problem form.
What PathNous is, and what it isn't
For each stage we say what's closed, what's along the way, whether a ferry or the tide is in the way, and how you get back. It helps you plan a day's walk.
It isn't safety advice, and it doesn't replace official notices, signs on the path, the operators' timetables or your own judgement on the day. If someone is in danger, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
How facts are checked
Every fact has a source and the date we last checked it. A fact without a source isn't shown. The About page explains how we check.
Paths close, ferries change their seasons and buses change their timetables, so a fact can go out of date. Before you set off, check the facts that matter to you with the original source we link to.
Tide times
Tide times on this site are estimates for general planning, not for navigation or safety decisions. Always check official tide times and local signs before walking out on the beach.
Ferries and buses
We say whether a ferry is scheduled today from its operator's published season. Small ferries stop for weather and tides, so a scheduled ferry may not run. We don't show bus or train times: check the operator's timetable before you set off.
Maps
Our maps are drawn from Natural England's route data, with the coastline from Ordnance Survey data published by the Office for National Statistics. They show roughly where the path goes and aren't for navigation. Follow the signs and waymarks on the path.
Sending a report
When you report a problem, please tell us only what you saw, and don't send anything you know to be false or personal information about anyone else. A report never changes the site by itself: we check it first, and we may decide not to use it.
By sending a report, you let PathNous use what you send to check and publish facts on the site.
Paid links
Paid links are labelled "Paid link" and kept separate from the facts. PathNous may be paid if you book something through one. Links to BeachNous and ParkNous are never paid links.
Using our content
Route data comes from Natural England, and the coastline from the Office for National Statistics (containing Ordnance Survey data), both under the Open Government Licence. Facts shared with our sister sites show which site checked them.
You may quote and link to PathNous text and facts freely, as long as you credit PathNous with a link to the site. Facts from official sources keep their own licences.
Automated access
You need our written permission to copy the site's content in bulk, to scrape it, or to extract it by automated means. To ask, write to us with the Report a problem form.
Links to other websites
Every fact links to its source, and many sources are other websites. We don't control those websites and aren't responsible for what they say.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute about them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
