- Closures
Diversion at Skelding Hill, west of Sheringham. The cliff path from the Esplanade to the far end of the golf course is shut while National Trails repairs it and builds new steps near Sheringham Coastwatch. Signs take you inland past the golf course, along Weybourne Road, Holt Road and Park Road, then past Sheringham Hall and over Deadman's Bridge. It adds about 2 miles.

Getting back
Come back the same way along the shingle to Cley Beach. If you came by bus, Beach Road is about a mile from the stop on the main road in Cley.
We don't show times yet. Check the timetable before you set off.

Start at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust car park at Cley Beach, at the end of Beach Road. Climb onto the shingle bank and turn left. It's about 3½ miles west along the spit to the dunes by the blue Lifeboat House, and the same back. The walk leaves the coast path at Cley, so there's no line for it on our map.
The shingle is soft and slow going, so it feels longer than it is. Allow about 3 hours and wear proper boots. Halfway out you pass the Watch House, an old lookout. At the dunes, follow the track towards the Lifeboat House and the boardwalk, and keep outside the fences. The National Trust fences off parts of the Point for wildlife, and its signs tell you where you can go.
There's nothing to buy on the spit, so take water and food with you. Cley village, a mile inland, has places to eat. For the seals and the dog rules on the Point, see BeachNous.
This walk is part of Sheringham to Blakeney on the Norfolk Coast Path.
Beaches along the way
Dogs, tides and parking for Cley Beach beaches are on our sister site, BeachNous.
